Emily’s Approach

Love and family are at the heart of my work.  I’m so inspired by couples, families and their connections. Being able to capture that for you is such a rewarding feeling. My goal is to create timeless and authentic photos that will be a part of your family’s story for a lifetime. Wedding days are full of excitement and chaos. Years of experience photographing weddings and knowing how to anticipate the moments that will make beautiful candid photographs is key to my process. For the portions of the wedding day that require a bit more direction, I believe in placing you in beautiful light and creating compositions that enhance the moments that will organically unfold. Every couple is unique and some prefer a little more guidance during their couple’s portraits. I’m very comfortable directing as much or as little as is necessary which makes the experience relaxed and fun.

So you be you, and I’ll take care of the rest.

Digital Files: All wedding collections include the full resolution digital files with a print release.

Albums: I offer beautiful 10×10 flush mount heirloom quality albums.

When will my photos be ready?: Standard turnaround for your wedding photo gallery is 6-8 weeks.

How many photos will I receive?: I don’t quote a specific number of photographs for any wedding, you can typically expect between 500-700 for full wedding coverage.

Where are you based? Do you travel?: I am based in Charleston, South Carolina and available for travel worldwide.

Do we need a second photographer?: Quite Possibly. I use a second photographer often when I am not able to be in two places at once or if I feel I cant wholly capture the day based on restrictive elements. We will discuss your wedding plans and I will happily advise you on this based on your unique situation.

Do you suggest a first look for the wedding day?: I suggest you do what feels good to YOU! First looks are great for couples that want to have that intimate moment prior to the ceremony. Some couples prefer tradition and that is wonderful too! I do suggest for all couples to reserve at least 25 minutes for couple photos. Its the best way to get beautiful photographs while having a moment to slow down and enjoy each other during the beautiful chaos of the day. I’m happy to advise you on this based on optimal light and location so that you can easily add it in your time line.

Do you take formal family portraits after the ceremony?: Yes, I do take family photographs based on a specific list you will prepare prior to the day. I try and efficiently photograph these groupings so that you can get back to enjoying your day as quickly as possible.

What about a shot list?: I’m going to capture it all in a way that is unique to you specifically. Other than your formal shot list for family and group photos you need not worry about a thing.
