Check out this incredibly cute Hilton Head Island engagement session I shot last week in Hilton Head Island for Ashley and William! After a couple of failed attempts because of rainy summer weather we finally got a a beautiful evening on the beach for engagement photos. The sky was so colorful which lent itself to that really soft romantic feel that I love for couples photos. Ashley and William are to get married this coming April at Wexford Plantation and after this session I couldn’t be more excited. They are such a sweet and down to earth couple and incredibly easy to photograph. I love shooting weddings in Charleston but sometimes its nice to just hop in the car and getaway for a night or 2 and mix up the scenery a bit! I’m so happy for these two and can’t wait until their big day. Cheers!
How cute is James!? He is growing like a weed and seriously lights up the room with his smiles and giggles anytime you are around him. I know he’s my nephew so I am a little biased but he’s pretty much the cutest thing ever. This was the most no-fuss shoot and turned out to be one of my cutest yet. I shot James in one of of these adorable Serena and Lily baskets that they use for toy storage. The blues and whites against the simple white fencing and deck were a perfect combination to keep all the focus on sweet James and not detract from what we really wanted to capture: his new little expressions that are developing with each passing month. The last shot I setup in his nursery on his changing table and just love it. Every night when I come over to see the boys this is usually where I find James post bath time and I think it really captures an authentic sweet memory for my sister. All in all this session took about 25 minutes and was the perfect amount of time to keep this little 8 month old happy and engaged without overstimulating him. At this age usually less is more when it comes to sessions! Choosing simple clean setups resulted in some great shots that I know they will print and love forever.
I am so excited to share these gorgeous bridal portraits in Hampton Park on the blog. A couple of weekends ago I shot Kasey and Colie’s wedding at Summerall Chapel with their reception at The Citadel Beach House. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to share that soon! You can see their engagement photos taken downtown Charleston here as well! Kasey and I had to reschedule this bridal session what seemed like 200 times due to the finicky Charleston weather this spring. My goodness have we had a lot of rain. She was traveling in from North Carolina (we both grew up in the same small town of Rocky Mount!) Luckily the final date we chose the weather was absolutely gorgeous, the sunset was golden glowy perfection and the wisteria was dripping off the trees in Hampton Park. Pretty much a perfect session. A huge thanks to her awesome wedding planner Kala of Mod Events for the bouquet! I love shooting bridal portraits and Kasey did not disappoint and was so comfortable in front of the camera. If you would like to see the full session you can check it out here for all those brides looking for inspiration! Happy spring wedding season!
Check out this cute wedding at The Creek Club at I’on! Kristen and Chuck were married outside under the the gorgeous Oak on the property. Amanda of Southern Chic did a beautiful with the coordination and design of this wedding. It was elegant yet understated with simple greenery , gorgeous flowers & glowing lanterns. Kristen also added some cute personal touches with her guest book. She chose to use 3 wooden states that represented where the couple fell in love, got engaged and got married! I loved getting to know them during our engagement session in Hampton Park back in the Spring. Having that session prior to the wedding always makes the resulting couples photos so easy and natural. These are no exception, they are a gorgeous couple inside and out. Kristen and Chuck are both so down to earth and real. I especially enjoyed the rap Chuck included in his wedding gift to Kristen-hilarious. I had a blast getting to shoot this wedding. Kristen, Chuck, their families & friends partied the night away! There was no shortage of fun or laughter . Enjoy the photos and congratulations to the happy couple!~!
Check out this sweet Hampton Park engagement session! I am so excited for this Saturday and the wedding festivities for Kristen & Chuck! These are a few of my faves from their engagement session a couple of months ago. These two are so down to earth and there is just a certain ease about them which makes them so fun to photograph. I know their wedding this weekend at The Creek Club in I’on is going to be beyond beautiful. I freakin LOVE October weddings and the weather looks like it is going to be in our favor! Hampton Park is one of my favorite places for laid back wedding and portrait sessions. The park is dog friendly which is a huge plus for lots of my engagement sessions. How cute is their golden-doodle?! Olive may be getting a play mate realllll soon. Enjoy the photos & stay tuned for their wedding sneak peek soon!!
These photos of Kasey and Colie’s Downtown Charleston Engagement session make me so excited for April 18th. After having to reschedule our first scheduled shoot for rainy Charleston weather (shocker), we finally ended up with a beautiful sunny Saturday morning! These two were so much fun to work with, and so extremely easy to photograph. It was very humid out and the way the light played off the morning mist definitely made the photos in the park glow. Love that. Their wedding is being held at Summerall Chapel with the reception at the Citadel Beach House. I can’t wait to get some amazing shots of these two by the water at Isle of Palms! Colie is originally from Charleston and Kasey ironically enough is from my home town of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. When she first contacted me I was surprised to find out her family’s home was just a couple of blocks from mine. Small world! The two met while on their family vacations aboard a cruise ship that left out of the Charleston Harbor. I thought that was a really interesting “how we met” story…love finds us in the most unexpected places! Carnival Cupid? Who knew! Enjoy the photos!
Check out this cute Folly Beach family session! Reagan and Theodore were so much fun to chase around on the beach. Photographing two year old twins is not the easiest task in the world but it is a ton of fun….especially when this is the result of all of our efforts! Poor Theodore literally fell down about 8 stairs just minutes before we began. Through tears and a little busted lip kept telling us “I’m alrighhhttt, I’m allriighhttt”…while his helpful sis tried to take off with his ice. Women. Despite the injury he rebounded very quickly and was all smiles, hugs and kisses with his sweet sister. The family comes to Folly Beach every year for a summer getaway from Connecticut. I know a lot of photographers tend to run from these types of sessions but I absolutely love doing them in addition to my wedding bookings. In fact, I look forward to shooting my wedding clients as their families grow too…it’s such a natural transition back and forth between the two for me as a photographer. During these beach family sessions everyone is always vacay laid back and in great spirits (well, when they aren’t doing evasive gymnastic maneuvers down a flight of stairs that is). When I get a down to earth family like this who is willing to just go out on the beach and play, I’m able to capture such great organic emotion and expression. I just love the little seersucker outfits on these two. The pastels really complemented the soft colors of the beach as the sun began to go down. I hope you guys come back again next year, I’d love to come play in the sand again with you
This 128 South Wedding in Wilmington, NC holds a special place in my heart for many reasons. I grew up going to church with Hannah since we were very young. When she asked me to shoot her wedding I was thrilled. I was even more excited when I found out they were getting married in Wilmington, NC and having their reception at 128 South. Travis and I had our wedding and reception there (insert Hurricane Sandy and a no-go Wrightsville wedding). It ended up being more perfect than we even planned. The staff at is pretty much top notch. At Hannah and Tyler’s wedding I found the exact same to be true. Hannah planned the day perfectly beginning with getting ready and a first look at The City Club at de Rosset and then their ceremony at Kenan Chapel in Landfall. We then took a trolley ride downtown to celebrate the “I do’s” the rest of the evening with drinks, dinner and lots of dancing on the deck under the warm glow of italian wedding lights. The venue was dripping with details. Beautiful lanterns, adorable signs, monogrammed pillows and peonies galore. I absolutely love getting the chance to shoot back “home” in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. My favorite shot from this wedding probably has to be the black and white image of Hannah and Tyler leaning into one another during the blessing upstairs at the reception. Hannah’s family experienced the loss of her precious Grandfather the evening prior to the wedding. I was so inspired by their grace and strength throughout the day. I think that particular image is such a sweet reminder that marriage is having someone to lean on always. Enjoy the photos and Congratulations to such a lovely couple.
Take a peek at Cecile and Mike’s Charleston Engagement Session!! How cute are these two!? Cecile and Mike opted for a downtown Charleston engagement session. We walked along the battery and white point gardens and got some amazing shots of soon to be married love birds. I had the best time getting to know them both. I am in love with Cecile’s sequin dress and cannot wait to see her wedding gown on November 15th! Excited to be working with Amanda of Southern Chic Weddings on their big day. For those of you out there looking for styling and clothing options for your engagement session, take a few notes from Cecile here. The dress was a classic and simple silhouette but the gold sequins really set it apart. She chose to go ahead and do a run through of her hair and makeup prior to the shoot which is always a great idea. Mike wore a classic white shirt, sport coat, jeans and loafers. This engagement session is a great example of choosing pieces that aren’t overly trendy but stylistically represent your tastes. Enjoy some of my favorite shots below !
